When many people think of networking, they envision standing awkwardly in front of a stranger trying to "sell" themselves. Or, sitting around at a job fair feeling awkward and insecure. Or, having an informational interview and not being sure how to leave things. But it doesn't have to be this way. Good networking is about building long-term relationships, and can lead to anything from opening new doors and discovering potential opportunities to building a support network and, yes, future jobs.

About Patricia Norins

Patricia Norins has spent the past 25 years inspiring companies to utilize innovative sales and marketing techniques to grow their sales and profits. She is the founder of two retail industry publications, Specialty Retail Report and Gift Shop Magazine. She has also launched and built successful retail conferences around the world including SPREE, the world’s largest show for the specialty retail industry. Norins’ prior business was ranked in Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing companies. In addition, Norins served as spokesperson for American Express's Small Business Saturday. She is regularly quoted in newspapers across the country including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and LA Times as an authority in specialty retail. Currently, Norins oversees a creative agency called Marketing Lemonade. Through her seminars, publications, training, websites, and agency, Norins has helped thousands of businesses to grow through creative and impactful marketing strategies. Norins earned her degree in Psychology at Clark University and graduated with highest honors. She currently serves on a special advisory committee to provide strategic guidance to the university.
